How To Push Through - The Wave Called Life
How to push through if pain in any form or circumstance comes? It can be hard. But when you stand against it, it’s like standing against a mighty wave. It will knock you down. You have to give in so that you can swim with the wave. It will still be hard, but not quite as hard. A midwife once told this my mum: When the pain comes. Accept it like a mighty wave. Don’t stand against it. In life, it’s the same. The dishwasher broke? Don’t stand against it! Accept it. Do you get a bill bigger than expected? Accept it.
Often we stand against life, creating unnecessary bad feelings and resistance.
On an emotional level, the only way to conquer those events is to befriend them with a feeling of love. If you need to laugh right now, this indicates that you are either far away from living a good life because you don’t believe me or you recognize this as true and are on a good path. Love is powerful. When we love what happens to us we are in tune with our fate. We are on top of the system. This isn’t possible? It is! And there are enough reasons to do so! Imagen the following! You lost your job! How can one love this? You earned a bunch of money, you loved your coworkers, and you loved your job. But you can love the situation nonetheless. You can see it as a challenge! You could see that you will grow. You can see that you will improve your trust in God (Life). Imagen the following! You get a job. You hate your job, your coworkers, and your salary is lousy. You can see it as a challenge! You can see the challenge in asking for a raise and finding the guts to find a new job. Getting patient. Getting humble. The challenge could be to see the good things in life and think positive or start your own business. The challenge could be to speak out loud about what bothers you. There are a bunch of things that you could learn here. One last example: You get no job: Accept it. But do something about it. This advice - don’t stand against the wave - is not black and white. If you have something that you can change, change it. This advice is more for things like situations you must go through. For example, There was one guy who wasn’t allowed to get medication to numb his pain but he needed to get his leg cut off. This is the kind of situation I’m talking about. Whatever God (or for non-believers “Life”) wants from you: Sometimes it can be hard. Very difficult even. But this advice is very important. As Jim Rohn said, you don’t wish for another wind, you set another sail.
What will happen then?
First, you will see that all sorts of opportunities start to appear! God will start to reward you. Because you don’t resist any longer. He can now work with you. Instead of “why me” you now say “try me”. You’ll start to understand that you can only grow out of everything that’s pushing you out of your comfort zone. Second, you will grow exponentially. That’s because you will start to understand the following: If you resist the wave, you don’t have enough energy left to grow, but if you don’t resist the wave you have energy left for your own growth. Third, you will be happier. Because standing against a wave is associated with tension. This tension is unease and unhappiness that adds up to the unease of the wave that’s hitting you. I would almost say that feeling the hitting of a small wave can be enjoyable whilst standing against it can be dramatic.
Conclusion
Once there lived a mighty emperor. He was ruthless and had everyone slaughtered who did not join his kingdom. One day he and his army marched into a small village. There he met a monk. He said, “Kneel before me!”. The monk replied “No.” Whereupon the emperor said “Don’t you know who I am? I can have you executed in a wink!” But the monk only said, “And I can die in a wink.” Then the emperor realized that true strength lies not in being able to kill, but in being able to die, gave up his kingdom and joined the monk.
